How to convert SRT to VTT
- Open or paste your .srt file.
- Keep the direction on SRT → VTT and click Convert.
- Download the result; it is saved as output.vtt.
What changes during conversion
A WebVTT file must start with the line WEBVTT. Timestamps use a dot before the milliseconds (00:00:01.000) instead of the SRT comma (00:00:01,000). Cue numbers are optional in VTT, so they are dropped. Your subtitle text and line breaks are kept as they are.
Using the VTT file on a web page
<video controls src="movie.mp4"> <track kind="subtitles" src="subs.vtt" srclang="en" label="English" default> </video>
Browsers only accept WebVTT in the <track> element, which is the most common reason people need this conversion. Read SRT vs VTT for a full comparison.
